Sitting on the Sangker River just south west of the Tonle Sap Lake, Battambang town is at the heart of Cambodia's 'rice bowl', and even though it is the country's second biggest town, it still has a very local, untouristed, provincial atmosphere. Much of the architecture is French colonial and traditional Cambodian. Few buildings are over three stories, and the main streets are shared by cars and horse carts alike. Unlike more touristed towns, the local economy is truly local - basedfirmly in rice, wood .
Battambang City has inherited a rich urban heritage with great variety of historic architecture , the style and layouts illustrating different phases of the cities history . The conversation area between road No 1 and No 3 is characterized by a coherent ensemble of about 800 heritage buiding from the french colonial protectorate , with some building from 1060s period .
Banan Hotel Battambang Hotel was opened in September 2007 and has 99 bedrooms arranged in 1 traditionally buildings. When designing the hotel we wanted to combine all that was best in the local Khmer and French colonial architecture whilst providing our guests with maximum comfort and convenience.
We are doing our part to help orphans and families living in poverty. Most of our employees came from these similar backgrounds with very low skill and education.
