Getting to Sleepzone Connemara:
If you don't have a car:
An easy and enjoyable way to travel to Sleepzone Connemara is with Galway Tour Company. The bus collects at Sleepzone Galway City every day at 9.45am, does a tour of Connemara, and you can Jump Off at Sleepzone Connemara at about 2.00pm. When you would like to return to Galway City you can simply �Jump On� again, complete the tour of Connemara and return to Galway City by about 6.00pm. Discount tickets are available at Reception at Sleepzone Galway City.
This tour includes Ashford Castle, Cong, Lough na Fooey, Kylemore Abbey & Gardens, the Inagh Valley and Killary fjord.
Don't forget to pick up some food in Galway City or in the village of Cong, if you need to.

Overlooking The Killary - Ireland's only fjord - and surrounded by the peaks of Mweelrea, The Twelve Bens and Maumturk mountains in the centre of Connemara, it is probably one of the most spectacularly situated hostels anywhere in Western Europe.
N.B. Remember this property is quite isolated. While we have vending machines that sell drinks and snacks, if planning on preparing meals yourself it is advisable to bring food with you, rather than having to drive or walk a few miles to buy groceries.
Remember breakfast is not included but we have complimentary tea and coffee

We recommend that all guests buy groceries and drinks before coming to the hostel. Hamilton?s and Gaynor?s pubs in Leenane have a grocery store ( 6 km)
We do not serve breakfast, however tea and coffee are available free of charge, and guests can use the self-catering kitchen to prepare breakfast.

From Galway City:
The Connemara Hostel is 50 kms from Galway City.
Take the Clifden Road (N59) from Galway and pass Moycullen and Oughterard. At Maam Cross (Peacock's Hotel) turn right heading to Maam and Leenane. The Connemara Hostel (Sleepzone) is situated 6km past Leenane (on the Clifden Road) - a sign on the right hand side shows you where to turn to the hostel.
Inagh Valley: An alternative (slightly longer but beautiful) route leads through the Inagh Valley.
From Galway go straight through Maam Cross until you reach Recess. At Recess turn right heading to the Inagh Valley. Atthe end of the road turn right. You will see a sign marking where to turn to The Connemara Hostel after 6 km.
From Castlebar / Wesport:
The Connemara Hostel is approximately 35 kms from Wesport.
Take the N59 in the direction of Leenane, Clifden. 5kms after Leenane take aright turn off the main road. The Connemara Hostel is 1km down this road - just past adventure centre - and close to the water.
By bus:
Bus Eireann offers daily services to Leenane From Galway and Wesport during the summer and weekly service during the winter. For further information see www.buseireann.ie. |
