Vandrarhem Valleylodge Farm Hostel, Knock, Irland
This farmhouse hostel can be found just outside Claremorris and close to Knock, Kaltimagh, Ballintubber and Casltebar, Co. Mayo.
The hostel is found in a renovated farm building situated in a peaceful valley and is on a real working farm. The farm is a traditional Irish mixed farm with goats, cattle, donkey, sheep, pigs and free range poultry.
The hostel is situated off the N60 Castlebar road 5 miles from Claremorris town, 18 minutes drive from Knock Shrine, 30 minutes from Ballintubber Abbey and 1 hour from Croack Patrick.
Other attractions include the Museum of Country Life Castlebar, Foxford Woollen Mills, Achill Island and Westport. 40 minutes drive from Knock Airport.
Own transport is essential, shops, pubs and restaurants located 8 km from the hostel in Claremorris.
Light breakfast included in price, quiet location, self guided scienic walks. Come and meet Dinny our cat, Teasy the dog and Colonel the donkey!

From Knock Airport (approx. 30 minutes to our Hostel) or Knock Village/Shrine (approx. 18 minutes to our Hostel)*: Take the West N17 to Claremorris (signposted Galway), then follow the directions from Claremorris as outlined below.
*Please note there is a shorter route to the Valleylodge Farm Hostel from Knock Airport / Knock minutes) but it is more difficult to follow and therefore this route not is reccommended.
From Claremorris (approx. 8 minutes to our Hostel): Take the N60 towards Castlebar, drive 8 km, turn right onto the 0224 Knock road (signposted Knock), follow the signs for Valley Lodge from here (1 km).
From Galway (approx. 1 hour to our Hostel), take the N17 to Claremorris (signposted Sligo), then follow the directions from Claremorris as outlined above.
From Sligo (approx. 1 & 1/2 hours to our Hostel), take the N17 to Claremorris (signposted Galway), then follow the directions from Claremorris as outlined above.
From Dublin (approx. 3 hours to our Hostel), take the M6 or N4 to Athlone, then the N61 and N60 to Claremorris. Finally, follow directions from Claremorris as outlined above. |
